By now, we have all heard of meditation for adults and the benefits for our busy lives. But what about meditation for children? Is that even possible? 

The answer is yes.

Just like adults, children are faced with challenges every day. Ones that will test them emotionally. Learning meditation at a young age can impact them greatly on how well they manage those daily challenges.

What are the benefits of meditation for children? 

Emotional Regulation

Children who meditate regularly are better able to identify things that stress them out. They are able to calm themselves, breathe, and ground themselves in the face of these stresses. This results in an increased ability to regulate their emotions.

Meditation teaches them to focus. Through this focus, they learn how to recognize thoughts and then dismiss them. During this practice, they learn not to be ruled by their thoughts.

By practicing meditation daily, children are better able to focus. They learn how to weed out distractions to better finish a task at hand.

Meditating before bed not only means less screen time, which helps with sleep, but it also means the child is able to calm their body and achieve a more relaxed state before bedtime. This leads to better sleep.

Children who practice meditation have been found to be more responsible in their actions. This is because they are more in tune with how they feel, more aware of others, and more conscious of the choices they have.

Meditation is an amazing tool for anyone, no matter the age. The younger we start, the earlier we can have a positive impact on ourselves and the world around us. Meditation can help us to lead better, happier, more productive lives.
